The Scottish Police Federation Death Benefit Scheme was set up on a national basis on the formation of Police Scotland and the demise of the schemes which operated in the previous legacy forces.
The scheme operates by taking an amount , currently £2.50, from each members salary on the death of a scheme member.
This means that a lump sum is paid to the deceased members family and assists in alleviating the financial pressure which families find themselves at these times
