Retired Officers – Back Pay

The Scottish Police Federation has raised the issue of retired officers not having any back pay they are entitled to, automatically paid. There are administrative difficulties in doing this automatically and so the following arrangements have been agreed.

Following the recent agreement on changes to police officer pay, with effect from 1 April 2022, any requests from retired officers seeking back pay between 1 April 2022 and the date of their retirement should be sent to FinancePayrollContactUs@scotland.police.uk.  In making a request, retired officers should provide their details including date of birth, PSI number, National Insurance number, and also confirm that there have not been any changes to their bank account details since their retirement.

The Scottish Police Federation is in discussion with Police Service of Scotland to find a more proactive approach to contacting retired officers regarding back pay and other work related issues and these will be advised in due course.
