Life policies
The Group Insurance offers
- £140,000 life cover for serving Officers
- £5,000 life cover for an officer’s child
If additional cover is purchased;
- £100,000 life cover for the partner or spouse of serving Officers
Critical Illness cover
The Group Insurance package includes cover for Critical Illness for Serving officers, their children and, if they pay an additional premium, their spouse or partner.
A serving officer with a Critical Illness will receive £30,000.
A serving officer who has a spouse or partner diagnosed with a Critical Illness will receive £25,000 if paying for spouse/partner cover.
A serving officer who has a child diagnosed with a Critical Illness will receive £7,500.

Death Benefits Scheme
The Scottish Police Federation Death Benefit Scheme was set up on a national basis on the formation of Police Scotland and the demise of the schemes which operated in the previous legacy forces.
The scheme operates by taking an amount , currently £2.50, from each members salary on the death of a scheme member.
This means that a lump sum is paid to the deceased members family and assists in alleviating the financial pressure which families find themselves at these times

Terminal Prognosis
In the event of being diagnosed with a Terminal Illness, a 20% advance on your Life Insurance can be paid. The following Claim Form should be completed:
Personal Injury
The Group Insurance Scheme covers members for a number of Personal Injury Benefits.
Permanent Total Disablement (due to accident) £50,000
Loss of use of one eye, one limb or hearing in one ear (due to accident) £25,000
Loss of use of both eyes, more than one limb, total loss of speech or hearing in both ears (due to accident) £50,000
On-Duty Assault benefit
- Firearm £1,500
- Knife/Sharp instrument £750
Mobile phone cover
The Group Insurance Scheme provides mobile phone cover for members.

Sick Pay
The Group Insurance Scheme provides Sick Pay Benefits when pay is cut
- Half Pay (for up to 26 weeks) 20% gross pay
- No Pay (for up to 26 weeks) 40% gross pay

Retired officers
Retired Officers’ Benefits
The Scottish Police Federation is pleased to be able to offer Insurance cover to our retired members. Our life insurer requires a strict 30 day timescale from date of retiral to take up membership.
Any application received more than 30 days after retirement will be rejected.
Please note that the policies are offered as a Group only and cannot be selected individually.

Terminal Prognosis
