Emma-louise Smith became the Assistant to the General Secretary (People & Equality) in November 2022.
Emma-louise has over 23 years police service (Strathclyde/Police Scotland), her experience accrued in operational, corporate and support roles at both regional and national levels equipping her with the experience required to lead this broad portfolio.
She became an elected federation representative in 2015 and as an active member of the West Area Committee, specialised in matters of Equality. A long standing member of the SPF, she has supported a number of members, peers and management in matters pertaining to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Having held Executive and Chair positions within Police Scotland’s Diversity Staff Association’s she has an excellent network of EDI contacts and support, both nationally and internationally. At each rank, most recently as a Chief Inspector, she has acted as a critical friend to Senior Management using her experience and time in the roles of Support and Service Delivery CI/Area Commander to effect positive change for members ensuring a people focused approach remains at the forefront of policing.
Lynne Gray
Assistant to the General Secretary (Conduct)
Lynne Gray became the Assistant to the General Secretary (Conduct) in May 2023.
She was Deputy Secretary of the West Area Committee in June 2021 having previously served as a divisional representative for 6 years when based in U Division.
She joined Strathclyde Police in 2004 and was posted to Johnstone, K Division. She has served in various areas in operational roles, specialist roles, working in both Response and community policing in Renfrewshire and Ayrshire divisions. She has also worked in training and been part of event planning.
Gordon Forsyth
Assistant to the General Secretary (Health & Safety)
Gordon Forsyth became Assistant to the General Secretary (Health & Safety) in April 2020.
Gordon joined Grampian Police in 1997 and has served in both Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire. He undertook roles in CID and Offender Management as well as having been trained in Public Order duties and as an Authorised Firearms Officer. He was substantively promoted to Sergeant in 2009 after various spells in temporary positions. Gordon served as a response sergeant at various stations across Aberdeenshire before a very short stint back in Aberdeen prior to becoming a full-time official. Gordon was elected to the former Grampian Joint Branch Board as a sergeants rep shortly before the creation of Police Scotland and he continued in that role as part of the North Area Committee. He received training in Conduct and Equality matters. In 2017 he was elected as the Chair of the North Area Committee and later took over as the North area lead for Health & Safety.
