New Cabinet Secretary for Justice
Commenting on the appointment of Michael Matheson MSP as Cabinet Secretary for Justice Brian Docherty, Chairman of the Scottish Police Federation said;
“On behalf of the members of the Scottish Police Federation, I would like to congratulate Michael Matheson on his appointment to the justice brief in the Scottish Government.
Mr Matheson will undoubtedly have to hit the ground running given the scale of the financial challenges facing the police service. We look forward to working with him and enjoying as productive a working relationship as we did with his predecessor Kenny MacAskill.
I would also like to thank Kenny for his unrelenting support to police officers and the police service during his time as Cabinet Secretary. Kenny’s support for the police service meant he was held in high regard by police officers across the whole of the UK. I wish him well for the future”
