The Scottish Police Federation represents all police officers in the ranks of constable, sergeant, inspector and chief inspector, police cadets and special constables; over 18,500 people, 98% of all police officers in Scotland.
SPF supports police widows
SPF fully supports the police widow’s campaign to keep their pensions for life. Currently, police widows lose their pension if they re-marry.
In Northern Ireland a recent legislation change has re-instated some widows pensions but others have lost theirs by re-marrying. The UK Government has recently implemented changes allowing military service widows to have their pensions re-instated but have ignored police widows and this is grossly unfair.
Brian Docherty, Chairman of the Federation said, “Our colleagues have paid the ultimate price in serving their communities and their dependants should be fully supported in their fight for parity on this important pensions issue.”
