The Greater Glasgow SPF reps met with their new divisional commander Chief Superintendent Hazel Hendren on September 4.
The meeting was attended by Supt Mark Sutherland, Supt Craig Smith, Supt Richard Ness, Supt Gary I’Anson, DCI Craig Willison, Cath McNally, Chris Thomson, Jennie Macfarlane, Iain Gray, Elaine Sutherland, Dougie McKinlay, Marketa Hola and David Sommerville.
The reps have met regularly with their various divisional commanders throughout the years and have always had a good relationship with the division’s management team.
They are regularly invited to take part in discussions relating to all areas of the division including health and safety meetings and a separate gathering to discuss the large number of events that occur in Glasgow.
This is a quarterly meeting that reps have with the events superintendent and ops planning management to deal with specific event related issues.
CS Hendren outlined her plans for the division and was keen to get new ideas which would benefit the officers.
The commander also acknowledged the fantastic work that officers undertake daily and the continual demand which is placed upon them.
The commander is also aware of the impact events have on Glasgow officers in particular. She told how she is in the process of going around the division to meet as many officers as possible in a bid to identify local issues.
Matters discussed at this particular meeting were frontline resourcing (all departments including uniform and CID), Christmas OBLs, CID shifts and Taser.
The minutes and action logs from the meeting are circulated within the division.
Glasgow reps are particularly active and try to engage with their members as much as possible.
